Solomonic Filters
In Solomonic, there are 2 distinct sets of general data filters. The first set consists of standard data filters that are universally applicable to all aspects related to claims. The second set, known as judgment data filters, specifically pertains to judgments data.
All filters are accessible across the top of any Solomonic listing pages. Readily available across the top of each page are the most frequently used filters. To access all available filters, select ‘All filters’.
AND/OR Filters
If you select multiple options within a single filter type, this applies an ‘OR’ rule. For example, if you filtered for multiple topics, the system would return results that have any of the selected topics.
If you add multiple filter types, this applies an ‘AND’ rule. For example, if you selected to filter for specific topics and party sectors, the system would return results that have any of the selected topics and any of the chosen party sectors.
Filter Results
When claim forms become available, Solomonic analysts review and tag these claims according to the information readily extractable from these documents. This therefore means that filters such as factual subject matters, legal subject matters, remedies, topics and value will only return results for claims that have had their claim form analysed.
Documents that have not been analysed will not appear on your search results when these filters are applied.
Other filters, such as party sectors, claim outcome, issue date, relationships and courts are not contingent on claim form analysis - and will consistently return results that cover all claims on our database.
Standard Data Filters
Document types
Filter for claims based on specific documents made available by the Court.
Please note that this filter is representative of documents that have been made publicly available by the Courts. This means that documents could either be available by request, or readily available to download. It does not only filter for documents that are immediately ready for download.
Application types
Search for claims with specific application types. View a list of all application types we have on the platform here.
Party sectors
When parties are added to Solomonic, they are assigned to a sector. You can select a specific sector to see all claims involving parties from that sector.
When analysts are unable to identify a party’s sector, it will be categorised as unknown. In cases where the sector is more niche and not present on the featured list, it will be labelled as ‘Other’.
Factual subject matters
Factual matters refer to the nature of the underlying claim from a static high-level list. This is separate to sectors assigned to the parties and are more broad-sweeping at a higher level.
Legal subject matters
Legal subject matters are the legal basis upon which the claim relies on, including case law and legislation. This can often be seen as the cause of action. Click here to view all the legal subject matters on the Solomonic platform
Remedies
You can search for the remedies that have been sought by parties in a claim. Click here to view all remedies we have on the Solomonic platform.
Topics
Topics refer to the nature of the underlying claim from a specific and context-based perspective. It is what the claim is about. For example, Covid-19, Crypto, Phone hacking, etc. Click here to view all topics on the platform.
Claim outcomes types
You can filter for different claim outcomes types, which we have defined by the following.
Judicial: Outcomes are defined as labelled. For each of these judicial outcomes, you can choose to filter for those that failed, succeeded or succeeded in part.
Failure: Got very little or nothing of what claimants sought. Failed can also include claims where claimants succeeded in receiving nominal damages.
Succeeded in part: Claimants were successful in some of their remedies; or, only received part of the payments they sought.
Success: Claimants received or most or all of what they wanted. Defendants only got nominal relief - at best.
Settlement:
Not acknowledged: This indicates the claim has become inactive without the defence being filed.
Order: This is applied when we have confirmed that the claim has been resolved through a Tomlin order.
Outcome not filed: Where the defence has been acknowledged, but there is no confirmed Tomlin order on record.
Ongoing: Solomonic does not yet have confidence that this claim has concluded.
Withdrawn: Withdrawn claims are often because they have been transferred to another Court.
Last activity
Filter to see claims by their last activity date. See those that have been recently active.
Issue date
Narrow down your data view to exclusively display claims issued within a specific time period.
Relationships
Explore different relationships between entities on the Solomonic platform using our relationships filter. You can view all the claims in which the selected entities have been involved together. Use the dropdown to choose the type of relationship you’d like to explore.
If you choose to explore party relationships, you can add any additional parties to create an aggregated party view.
*Adding any additional parties will return results that have any one of your selected parties.
Courts
Narrow down your search by selecting the specific sub-court(s) that pertain to you.
Value
Use the claim value filter to view claims with a certain value bracket. You can also choose to include claims with unknown values in your search. We extract claim value from Court filings where we can, but they are not always included in these documents.
Judgment data filters
As mentioned previously, Judgment data filters have been designed to better enhance searching within our judgment data. Whilst some of these filters overlap with our standard data filters, we have introduced additional filters tailored specifically to focus your search on judgment data.
Judgment results
You can filter different judgment results, which we have defined by the following.
Failure: Got very little or nothing of what the claimants sought. Failed can also include where the claimants succeeded in receiving nominal damages.
Succeeded in part: Claimants were successful in some of their remedies; or only received part of payments they sought.
Success: Claimants received most or all of what they wanted. Defendants only got nominal relief - at best.
Judgment date
You can filter for different judgments based on their judgment date. For example, if you were looking for more recent judgments.
Judgment type
Scan judgments by their type - either by concluding or interim judgments. The latter refers to where decisions have been taken during the course of the claim.
Judges
We have records of all Judges who have handed down a judgment within the courts we cover, dating back to 2014.
